Department of Commerce was established in the year 1973, VSM COLLEGE(A) a NAAC Accredited Institution, department of Commerce works with an aim of fostering in the students an attitude of objective inquiry. Commerce, besides being a traditional stream of education, is also the backbone of any economy and for expansions it requires knowledge, skills, and attitudes among the students for the successful handling of trade, commerce, and industry. The department equips students with the latest developments in the field of business and commerce and trains them with technical knowledge and practical perspective to face global competition with modernized tools and approach. It seeks to enable them to handle the challenges of growth and transformation of businesses through critical thinking, rational attitudes and quality decision making. It is dedicated to developing the students into responsible citizens of the country with high moral values, understanding the problems of human relationships and developing a capacity to appreciate the finer values of life.

All the U.G. and P.G. programs are AUTONOMOUS Programs, and are affiliated to AKNU, Rajamahendravaram and approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi.

All the PROGRAMS follow the curriculum of AKNU,Rajamahendravaram which upgrades the curriculum dynamically. All the PROGRAMS are conducted on semester basis. The pedagogy focuses on classroom lectures, guest lectures, self-learning, assignments, projects, practical sessions, periodical evaluation and feedback.

The UG PROGRAMS are of 6 semesters (3 year) duration. The PG PROGRAMS are of 4 semesters (2 year) duration.

The evaluation has internal assessment by the institution for 40 marks and Sem-end examination for 60 marks for each subject. Internal tests are conducted periodically to assess the performance continuously.
